Deductions from pay
The Payment of Wages Act 1991, provides that, with every wage packet, every employee has the right to a written statement of their pay and deductions. Employers may not make deductions from wages or receive payment from their workers unless it is:
- Required by law (e.g. PAYE or PRSI).
- Provided for in the contract of employment.
- Made with the written consent of the employee.
