What is Fórsa’s Skills Academy?

The Skills Academy is responsible for all Membership Training and Development in Fórsa.

We work closely with branches and divisions to develop the types of training that our workplace representatives need, so they can best support their colleagues and develop their own skills. This also helps to build a strong union locally, so you and your colleagues can win better wages, better protections, and better workplace rights!

Meet the team!

Judith Coffey is our “front of house” person, guiding and advising our representatives on the best courses to suit their needs, the application process and everything training connected. If you have a question, Judith will have the answer for you.

Roisin Nolan is our “behind the scenes” person and is responsible for organising all our technical support and co-ordinating our tutors. If you have a question regarding IT or can’t remember what course you undertook in the past, Roisin will find the answer.

Fiona Dunne is our “direction setter” and is responsible for developing courses and their content to align with the needs of our representatives and our strategic objectives. If you have a question about potentially creating new types of trainings, Fiona is the person to send your ideas to.

Why take our courses?

Our role is to provide courses which develop your key skills and increase your capabilities, to effectively build a strong union locally with the support of your colleagues and represent members to the best of your abilities.

All our courses are focused on your needs, whether you’re a Workplace Representative or Branch Officer.

Your roles are crucial in building our strength and influence at local level, so it is essential that you feel confident and fully supported to do so.

You can expect to build skills in the areas of communications, representation and organising, and get plenty of opportunities to practice those skills with your peers using real-life situations.
