Fórsa has been in urgent contact with local authority employers this afternoon (Thursday 12th March) to seek clarity about the situation of staff in local authority libraries, museums and galleries, after the Government announced that cultural institutions are to close from 6pm this evening as part of the response to the Covid-19 public health crisis.
The union spoke to senior officials in the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), which represents local authority employers. The LGMA said it was seeking advice from its parent department, the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
The union will post further information on the website once it is received.
